Embark on a Ferry crossing
The only way to get to the Silk Island is by taking a ferry across the Tonle Sap River. Enjoy the nice views along the river and the fresh country air.
The scene on the ferry may change if there are cows on board, certainly an interesting photo opportunity!

The Island Lifestyle
While visiting the island you will see how local people make their living from traditional business to agricultural farms and raising animals.
You will have a chance to meet some island residents with a brief stop at their house. Enjoy home-made fruit juice and learn about the island lifestyle.
Local Businesses
Visit a silk worm rearing business where silk worms are raised. The natural silk fibers produced are woven into incredibly luxurious and elegant items including purses, scarves, pillow cases, dresses and much more. You will see how they raise the silk worms, how they procure the silk and how they convert it into a very valuable material. You can also buy local hand made silk products (you might want to bring some shopping money).
Farming & Harvesting
Get an up close look at traditional Cambodian farming methods and practices. A wide variety of fruits, vegetables and grains are grown on the island including mango, “water chestnut” (lotus root) banana, rice, papaya and many more! If we are lucky, we will be able to taste some of the delicious fresh fruit being harvested.

When to come?
Anytime is a good time to visit Cambodia but most people prefer to visit during the dry season, from November to April, with the “cool season” of November to February being particularly pleasant. However, prices tend to be higher around this busy period.
What to bring?
Pack lightweight, breathable clothing, comfortable shoes, Insect repellent and sunscreen. For day tours it is a good idea to wear light clothes that cover your skin, they will keep you cool and protect you from the sun.
